Part C Special applications, functional checks, service, and order numbers Sect. 6.16 Special Applications, Functional Checks, Service and Order Numbers6.1 Use in hazardous areas6.1.1 GeneralSignal converters of type <strong>IFC</strong> <strong>110</strong> F - <strong>EEx</strong> are type tested as associated electrical apparatus incompliance with European Directive 94/9/EG (ATEX 100a) in conformity with European StandardsEN 50 014 / EN 50 020.The EC type examination certificate has been issued by the Physikalisch-TechnischeBundesanstalt (PTB) under: PTB 02 ATEX 2163 XImportant, please note!• Observe the directions, regulations and electrical data specified in the EC typeexamination certificate, see Section 13.• In addition to the regulations for power installations (VDE 0100), pay particularattention to the regulations specified in EN 60079-14 “Electrical installations inhazardous areas".• Assembly, installation, commissioning and maintenance may only be carried out by”personnel trained in explosion protection“!6.1.2 Main safety featuresBoth generation of the intrinsically safe electrode circuit and also protection of the non-intrinsicallysafe field circuit by fusible links form integral parts of the <strong>IFC</strong> <strong>110</strong> F - <strong>EEx</strong> signal converter.• Category / Zone<strong>IFC</strong> <strong>110</strong> F - <strong>EEx</strong> signal converters are associated electrical apparatus required to be installedoutside the hazardous area.The intrinsically safe electrode circuit is designed in Category 2 for use in Zone 1.• Types of protectionThe electrode circuit is designed in Intrinsic Safety <strong>EEx</strong> ib IIC type of protection.The non-intrinsically safe field circuit must be installed inside the hazardous area using a typeof protection conforming to European Standard (e.g. Increased Safety "e").Power supply and signal inputs / outputs are non-intrinsically safe.• Field current fuse protectionThe field circuit is fuse-protected in the signal converter <strong>IFC</strong> <strong>110</strong>F – <strong>EEx</strong> by two fusible links onthe FSV circuit board (TR5, 160 mA F).• Safety-relevant type codeThe following code is used for type designation:<strong>IFC</strong> <strong>110</strong> F / … - E Ex1 2 3 4 5 61 Electromagnetic signal converter2 Type series3 Field housing for “remote” measuring systems4 Marking – no effect on explosion protectionS Special version for -40 °C… others as required5 Approval to European standard6 Explosion-protected equipment05/2003 <strong>IFC</strong> <strong>110</strong> F 55
