INSUL-SHEET ® /ROLL S2S DESIGNED FOR THE HVAC/R INDUSTRYINSUL-SHEET ®INSUL-SHEET ® flexible, fiber-free insulation preventscondensation, frost formation and heat/loss gain to createdurable, energy-efficient HVAC systems. Its closed cellstructure and tough skin inherently resists mold growthwithout the need for a jacket to provide these properties.Temperature Range: -297°F to 220°F (-182°C to 104°C) forpiping; -297°F to 200°F (-182°C to 93°C) for full adhesionDesigned for large surface areas (ducts, tanks and largediameter pipes). Reduced number of sections simplifiesinstallation, saving on time and labor costs.INSUL-SHEET ® WITH PSAINSUL-SHEET ® with PSA is flexible, fiber-free elastomericinsulation with a factory-applied pressure-sensitiveadhesive liner.Features of PSA: tear and moisture resistant easy releaseliner, reinforced scrim prevents stretching and improvespeel strength, reduced installation time and use ofcontact adhesives, and flexible and easy to install at lowtemperatures.Temperature range: -70°F to 200°F (-57°C to 93°C)R A N G ESHEETS36” X 48”PAGESTANDARD THICKNESSADHESIVE THICKNESS:1/8” to 2” 1/8” to 1-1/2”PAGE 38

It is black in color and suppliedas flat sheets (36" x 48") in standardthicknesses of 1/8" thru 2". It is suppliedskin two sides in 1/4” and above. INSUL-SHEET ® is also available in rolls, with astandard roll width of 48". INSUL-SHEET ®key physical properties are approved throughsupervision by Factory Mutual ResearchCorporation.INSUL-SHEET ® is non-porous, fiber-freeand resists mold growth. An EPA-registeredantimicrobial agent is incorporated intothe product providing additional protectionagainst mold, fungal and bacterial growth.INSUL-SHEET ® is GREENGUARD ® certifiedas a low VOC material, meeting the requirementsof the “Children and Schools” and“Indoor Air Quality” classifications.APPLICATIONSINSUL-SHEET ® is used to retard heat gainand prevent condensation or frost formationon cold equipment, tanks, vessels, ducts, or large O.D. pipes. It also effectivelyretards heat loss when used on hot equipment, ducts, or large pipes. INSUL-SHEET ®is recommended for applications rangingfrom -297°F to 220°F (-182°C to 104°C)when used as pipe insulation where onlythe longitudinal seams and butt joints areglued. On full adhesion applications, theupper limit is 200°F (93°C).INSUL-SHEET ® has a tough skin that withstandstearing, rough handling, and severeenvironmental conditions, yet is flexible foreasy installation. INSUL-SHEET ® has superiorcold weather flexibility. INSUL-SHEET ®thickness has been calculated to controlcondensation on cold surfaces. Refer to thetable on the next page for specific recommendations.INSTALLATIONWhen INSUL-SHEET ® is applied to ductworkand equipment, use 100% coverage of anapproved contact adhesive. With a contactadhesive, both surfaces to be joined shouldbe coated and then joined after the adhesiveis dry to the touch. Compression jointswith adhesive applied should be used onall butt edges. INSUL-SHEET ® is also availablewith pre-applied pressure sensitiveadhesive (PSA) with an easy-to-use releaseliner. ASTM C1710, Installation Guide forFlexible Closed Cell Foams, should be usedas an installation guide.OUTDOOR APPLICATIONSFor optimum performance, outdoor applicationsrequire K-FLEX ® 374 Protective Coating, approved jacketing or K-FLEX ® Clad ALor WT. For more detailed information, referto the Application Guide.RESISTANCE TO MOISTUREVAPOR FLOWThe closed cell structure and uniqueformulation of INSUL-SHEET ® effectivelyretards the flow of moisture vapor, andis considered a low transmittance vaporretarder. For most applications, INSUL-SHEET ® needs no additional protection.Additional vapor barrier protection may benecessary for INSUL-SHEET ® when installedon low temperature surfaces that areexposed to continuous high humidity.FLAME AND SMOKE RATINGINSUL-SHEET ® in thicknesses of 2" (50mm) and below has a flame spread ratingof 25 or less and a smoke developmentrating of 50 or less as tested by ASTM E 84,“Surface Burning Characteristics of BuildingMaterials”.INSUL-SHEET ® is acceptable for use induct/plenum cover applications meetingthe requirements of NFPA 90A/B.Numerical flammability ratings alone may not definethe performance of products under actual fire conditions. They are provided only for use in the selection ofproducts to meet limits specified when compared to aknown standard.PAGE 39
