K-FONIK AB TECHNICAL INFORMATIONMade in <strong>USA</strong>DESCRIPTIONK-FONIK AB is an environmentallyfriendly,CFC-free, flexible, open cell sheetproduct used for acoustic damping, gasketingand thermal insulation. It is comprisedof recycled, closed cell foam that is bondedtogether with a urethane adhesive. Thecombination of closed cell material (witha controlled particle size and particle sizedistribution) re-engineered to produce anopen cell structure results in a unique set ofproperties that readily accept and dissipatesound waves, ensuring maximum acousticalabsorption.The product is predominantly black in colorand comes in sheets 39” x 39” in thicknessesof 1/2”, 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2”, as wellas in bun form. The product is offered intwo densities: 10 pcf and 15 pcf. It has atemperature range of -40°F to +200°F.APPLICATIONSK-FONIK AB offers excellent acousticperformance (NRC = 0.75 at 1” thicknessfor 15 when tested to ASTM C423) and thermalproperties (k = 0.30 Btu in/hr-ft2- F).Sound absorbing materials reduce soundreflection and transfer by converting soundenergy into heat.Equipment Rooms:A) Acoustic blankets – Filled withK-FONIK AB to absorb noise (as areplacement for glass wool or rock wool),and to resist compression and moisture.B) Interior Surfaces – To reduce noise fromtransferring through walls, ceilings andfloors, creating soundproof spaces.Machine Covers:To reduce noise and vibration.Piping:K-FONIK AB is used in conjunction withhigh mass products to reduce transmissionnoise on large pipes in industrial applications.Floor underlayment:To reduce and isolate foot fall or impactnoise between the floor/ceiling assembly.INSTALLATIONK-FONIK AB is supplied in flexible sheetsin a variety of thicknesses. It is easily cutand fabricated. K-FONIK AB can beadhered to most non-porous substratesusing K-<strong>Flex</strong> ® 620 Contact Adhesive.RECYCLED CONTENTK-FONIK AB is manufactured from 90%recycled product and reduces materialuse.
