K-FLEX ® 320/620 CONTACT ADHESIVE TECHNICAL INFORMATIONMade in USADESCRIPTIONK-FLEX ® 320 & 620 Contact Adhesives areair-drying solvent-based neoprene contactadhesives that are excellent for joiningseams and butt joints of elastomeric& polyolefin pipe and sheet Insulation.K-FLEX ® 320 & 620 Contact Adhesivesmake resilient moisture- and heat-resistantbonds when used with elastomericand polyolefin products. K-FLEX ® 320 &620 Contact Adhesives’ higher solids contentallows them to be brushed or rollerapplied easily without running. They areideal for bonding porous and non-porousmaterials, as they will not be absorbedeasily.Caution: Adhesive contains notable solventsand container not in use shouldbe kept closed. Keep adhesive awayfrom sparks and open flames. Use withadequate ventilation and avoid excessivecontact with the skin.USESK-FLEX ® 320 & 620 Contact Adhesivesmay be used for bonding elastomeric andpolyolefin products to a variety of materials(i.e., other elastomers, metal, wood, leather, felt, concrete, etc.). The adhesiveswill make resilient and heat-resistantbonds. They are suitable for line temperaturesup to 220˚F (104˚C) on applicationsrequiring bonded seams and joints. Whenthe adhesives are applied to large flat orcurve surfaces, they are suitable for temperaturesup to 200˚F (93˚C). The productsare supplied in a variety of sizes rangingfrom pint brush top containers to galloncontainers. Larger containers are availableupon request.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSFor proper adhesion, the surfaces towhich the insulation is to be appliedmust be thoroughly cleaned, dry andunheated. Primed and painted surfacesshould be adhesive tested to be sure theinsulation will not lift off after application. The adhesive should be thoroughlymixed. Brush or roll a thin even coat ofadhesive on both surfaces to be joined.Allow the adhesive films to become dryto the touch, but tacky, before joining thesurfaces. Press the two surfaces together.Be sure the insulation is in the desiredposition before the adhesive surfacesmake initial contact, since the adhesiveforms an instant bond, and repositioningafter contact is difficult. Moderatepressure should then be applied to theentire bonding area to ensure completecontact. Avoid heat, sparks, and openflames, and use only proper ventilation.Close container after use. K-FLEX ® 320 &620 Contact Adhesives should be appliedat above 40˚F (4˚C) temperatures, andallowed to dry for 24 hours before equipmentoperation. Protective coatings can beapplied to applications with bonded jointsand seams, after allowing 24 hours drytime. Applications such as large tanks, orvessels where full adhesive coverage isrequired, must be allowed to dry 7 daysprior to applying a protective coating. The surface may be allowed to dry andcan be solvent reactivated by wiping witha toluene dampened cloth.Thinning the adhesive is not recommended.Common lacquer thinners can be usedfor clean up.PAGE 52
