K-FLEX ® 373 CONTACT ADHESIVE TECHNICAL INFORMATIONMade in USADESCRIPTIONK-FLEX ® 373 Contact Adhesive is an airdryingsolvent-based neoprene contactadhesive (blue in color for easy identification)that is excellent for joining seamsand butt joints of elastomeric pipe andsheet insulation. K-FLEX ® 373 ContactAdhesive will make a resilient moistureandheat-resistant bond when used withelastomeric products. It is designed forspray application, giving excellent coveragewith rapid build-up of strength.Conventional spray heads for solventbased adhesives work with this product.Caution: Adhesive contains notable solventsand containers not in use shouldbe kept closed. Keep adhesive awayfrom sparks and open flames. Use withadequate ventilation and avoid excessivecontact with the skin.USESK-FLEX ® 373 Contact Adhesive may beused for bonding elastomeric productsto a variety of materials (i.e., other elastomers, metal, plastics, wood, etc.,) Theadhesive will make a resilient and heatresistantbond. It is suitable for linetemperatures up to 220°F (104°C) onapplications requiring bonded seams andjoints. When the adhesive is applied tolarge flat or curved surfaces, it is suitablefor temperatures up to 200°F (93°C). Theproduct is supplied in a variety of sizesranging from 1/2 pint brush top containersto gallon containers. Larger containersare available upon request.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSFor proper adhesion, the surfaces towhich the insulation is to be applied mustbe thoroughly clean, dry and unheated.Primed and painted surfaces should beadhesive tested to be sure the insulationwill not lift off after application. Theadhesive should be thoroughly mixed.Brush, roll, or spray a thin even coat ofadhesive on both surfaces to be joined.Allow the adhesive films to become dryto the touch, but tacky, before joining thesurfaces. Press the two surfaces together.Be sure the insulation is in the desiredposition before the adhesive surfacesmake initial contact, since the adhesiveforms an instant bond and repositioningafter contact is difficult. Moderatepressure should then be applied to theentire bonding area to ensure completecontact. Avoid heat, sparks, and openflames and use only with proper ventilation.Close container after use. K-FLEX ®373 Contact Adhesive should be appliedat above 40°F (4°C) temperatures, andallowed to dry for 24 hours before equipmentoperation. Protective coatings can beapplied to applications with bonded jointsand seams, after allowing 24 hours drytime. Applications such as large tanks, orvessels where full adhesive coverage isrequired, must be allowed to dry 7 daysprior to applying a protective coating.K-FLEX ® 373 Contact Adhesive may beheat or solvent reactivated. To reactivateheat, use approximately 250°F (125°C).To reactivate solvent, wipe with a clothdampened with toluene.Note: May damage the insulation if theintent is to remove it from the substrate(i.e. duct, tank, AHU, etc.)Thinning the adhesive is not recommended.Common lacquer thinners can be usedfor clean up. See the Technical BulletinTA1 for equipment recommendations.PAGE 50
