Field Syntax Description Read/WriteAttribute Bits [att=xNN] The value of the attributebits (bits 18 h – 1F h ), as atwo-digit hexadecimalnumeral NN.User MemoryIndicatorExtended PCBits[umi=B][xpc=xNNNN]This field is only availableif the toggle bit (bit 17 h ) iszero. The value of the usermemory indicator bit (bit15 h ). The value B is eitherthe digit 0 or the digit 1.The value of the XPC bits(bits 210 h -21F h ) as a fourdigithexadecimal numeralNNNN.Read / WriteRead / WriteNote that certain Gen 2Tags may ignore thevalue written to this bit,and instead calculatethe value of the bitfrom the contents ofuser memory. See[UHFC1G2].Read only185918601861186218631864186518661867186818691870187118721873187418751876187718781879Table 14. Control Information FieldsThe user memory indicator and extended PC bits are calculated by the tag as a function ofother information on the tag or based on operations performed to the tag (such asrecommissioning). Therefore, these fields cannot be written directly. When readingfrom a tag, any of the control information fields may appear in the URI that results fromdecoding the EPC memory bank. When writing a tag, the umi and xpc fields will beignored when encoding the URI into the tag.To aid in decoding, any control information fields that appear in a URI must occur inalphabetical order (the same order as in the table above).Examples (non-normative): The following examples illustrate the use of controlinformation fields in the EPC Tag URI and EPC Raw URI.urn:epc:tag:sgtin-96:3.0614141.112345.400This is a tag with an SGTIN EPC, filter bits = 3, the hazardous material attribute bit setto zero, no user memory (user memory indicator = 0), and not recommissioned (extendedPC = 0). This illustrates back-compatibility with earlier versions of the Tag DataStandard.urn:epc:tag:[att=x01]:sgtin-96:3.0614141.112345.400This is a tag with an SGTIN EPC, filter bits = 3, the hazardous material attribute bit setto one, no user memory (user memory indicator = 0), and not recommissioned (extendedPC = 0). This URI might be specified by an application wishing to commission a tagwith the hazardous material bit set to one and the filter bits and EPC as shown.Copyright ©2005- 2011 GS1 AISBL, All Rights Reserved.
