Taipan<br />

action!’ and when the folks<br />
at Taipan Combat asked me<br />
to come along then I couldn’t<br />
possibly refuse!<br />

to fighting an opponent. This helps maintain a<br />
fun and positive environment providing an ideal<br />
learning platform for potentially lifesaving skills.<br />
Our session started with a fun yet rigorous warm<br />
up, you do not have to be super fit the techniques<br />
can be picked up by anyone irrelevant of size, age<br />
or gender.<br />
Starting back in January 2013 by 5th degree black<br />
belt and 30 year martial arts veteran Stephen Von<br />
Leuchtenberg Taipan Combat has been designed<br />
to bridge the gaps in-between other martial arts<br />
whilst also focusing on modern day self-defence.<br />
There is a less of a competitive edge when<br />
compared with other marital arts with gradings<br />
We then moved into the defence drills, as the<br />
dojo regulars honed their skills ahead of an<br />
impending grading AM stepped onto the striking<br />
chequered floor for the first time. The drills are<br />
designed to represent potential modern day<br />
real life situations, an attack with a weapon, an<br />
altercation at an ATM, threatened with a knife<br />
and even a gun. The aim is quite simple, to keep<br />
