sponsored by Abbeycroft Leisure
The campaign aims to leave a lasting legacy
from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic
Games and features real life ‘cover’ stars
from the local community on posters in
Abbeycroft managed facilities, GP surgeries
and hospital waiting rooms, to inspire others
to fit physical activity into their lives.
For Vicki Doel keeping active helps her feel
more confident, gives her more energy, and
has strengthened her relationship with her
fiancé.
Vicki, 27, does circuit training, Zumba and
running to keep active and makes sure
she has classes in her diary, making a fixed
appointment with herself to exercise. She
said: “I started classes in 2009 because I
was overweight and I wanted to be fitter and
healthier and just feel better in myself.
Vicki has a busy job as a secretary at RAF
Lakenheath so she made sure that she fitted
in a circuit training class on Tuesdays and a
Zumba class when she was not working on
Saturdays.
She said: “It has given me so much more
energy and I now take the stairs instead of
the lift at work.” Vicki also runs with her fiancé
Ben, 31, which has led to the couple spending
more time together on something they both
enjoy.
They have also teamed up with
Vicki’s brother and sister in law to
go running together on Thursdays
and Sundays. She said: “It has
strengthened our relationship and
it’s given me
more confidence.
“Shopping was no fun anymore because I
refused to go up another dress size and I am
not one of those people who can eat what
they like and do no exercise.”
We run together
