FOOD & DRINK NOVEMBER <strong>2015</strong> | ISSUE #37 CHOCOLATEY BROWNIES This month we are making some seriously chocolatey brownies! A delicious treat that is loads of fun to make. Don’t forget all these recipes and lots more can be found in my cook books. Get your copy at www.olivers-kitchen.co.uk Right, ask your big person to preheat the oven to 180°C and start lining a baking tray with greaseproof paper. It is now time for the cooking so make sure you have someone big enough near by to pop your brownies in the oven for you. So, pour the brownie mixture in a baking tin and let it settle as level as possible. Now it’s time for the oven! Now whilst you have your big person’s attention, ask them to heat up some water in a saucepan and pop a bowl over it. They then need to add the chocolate and butter. Make sure they keep and eye on it though and keep stirring it. it is very easy to burn the chocolate if you do not stir it often enough. While they are doing this bit, you need to get a big bowl out and start adding the other ingredients. Start with the cocoa powder, then the flour and then the baking powder and sugar. This will need stirring. Now add the eggs and chocolate mixture and beat the until it is all nice and smooth. It should look quite silky. 61 Your brownies need to cook for about 25 minutes but keep an eye on them as ideally you want them to be slightly crunchy on the outside but soft and gooey in the middle. Remember this if you test them with a knife as you do not want the knife to come out completely clean like with normal cakes as this would mean the brownies are over cooked! Once they are cooked absolutely perfectly allow them to cool for a few minutes then enjoy with a dollop of cream or ice cream.
