The Title of Father to God is applied in the Old Testament in connection with God’s children who are identified as Mankind. The first born or the primary elect among the mankind in this connection is identified as Israel Israel the Firstborn "Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD: "Israel is My son, My firstborn. So I say to you, let My son go that he may serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, indeed I will kill your son, your firstborn."'" (Exodus 4:22-23). "You are the children of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave the front of your head for the dead." (Deuteronomy 14:1). "But I said: 'How can I put you among the children and give you a pleasant land, a beautiful heritage of the hosts of nations?' And I said: 'You shall call Me, "My Father," and not turn away from Me.'" (Jeremiah 3:19). "They shall come with weeping, And with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, In a straight way in which they shall not stumble; For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn." (Jeremiah 31:9). "A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name." (Malachi 1:6). Thus jewish prayers were addressed to “Our Father” Consequently, even before Christ's first advent, Jews prayed to 'Our Father': "Lord, Father, and Ruler of my life, do not abandon me to the tongue's control or allow me to fall on its account."
