Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a<br />

SOPHIA<br />

Pro. 8: 22-30 "The LORD brought me forth as the first <strong>of</strong> his<br />

works, before his deeds <strong>of</strong> old; I was appointed from eternity,<br />

from the beginning, before the world began. When there were no<br />

oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding<br />

with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before<br />

the hills, I was given birth, before he made the earth or its fields<br />

or any <strong>of</strong> the dust <strong>of</strong> the world. I was there when he set the<br />

heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face <strong>of</strong><br />

the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed<br />

securely the fountains <strong>of</strong> the deep, when he gave the sea its<br />

boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and<br />

when he marked out the foundations <strong>of</strong> the earth. Then I was the<br />

craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day,<br />

rejoicing always in his presence,rejoicing in his whole world and<br />

delighting in mankind”<br />

The Sophia (Wisdom) can be identified as the Spirit <strong>of</strong><br />

discernment and one who gives life. Here we are told that this<br />

Wisdom was with God from the begining, before creation and<br />

was involved in the creation process. Yet there is indication that<br />

Wisdom proceded from God.<br />

LORD SAYS TO MY LORD<br />

In Psalm 110, the one who is in a future day to rule in Zion is<br />

addressed as a divine personality by another who is also deity.<br />

"The Lord says to my Lord," writes David the (7-8) psalmist, "sit<br />

at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your<br />

feet. The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will<br />

rule in the midst <strong>of</strong> your enemies" (Psalm 110:1-2).<br />

Here is one who is "the Lord" speaking to David's Lord and<br />

telling him to sit at his right hand until the time comes for him to<br />

rule in the midst <strong>of</strong> some who are now his enemies. Surely the<br />
