Malaysia Airports brings
Raya festive cheer to less
fortunate children
108 primary school students were smiling from ear to ear after Malaysia Airports
purchased new clothes, shoes and handed out 'duit raya' and chocolate hampers
on 21 June 2016 as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The rambunctious bunch comprised students aged between 7 and 12 from Sekolah
Kebangsaan KLIA (SK KLIA) and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi (SK
BBST), Sepang. They were selected based on their families' financial standings.
Malaysia Airports Managing Director, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali and his wife, Datin
Rogayah Ibrahim accompanied the children alongside 23 other Malaysia Airports staff
volunteers to Parkson Alamanda Putrajaya to shop for the Raya clothes and shoes.
Each student was allocated RM300 to purchase clothes and shoes of their liking
at Parkson.
Badlisham said, "This donation is a sign of concern
as a corporate entity and is also part of our
corporate social responsibility initiatives to
assist nearby local communities where we
operate. Hopefully, with a little help and
donations from us, we are able to bring
happiness to these students and their
families, especially during the Raya
months of Ramadhan and Syawal."
"In addition, I also hope that this
contribution would encourage these
kids to excel in their learning and to
continue the legacy of devoting time
to family, religion, race and nation in
the future," he said.
Post-shopping spree, the students were
whisked to The Everly Putrajaya Hotel for
a food buffet, which was also attended by
media partners of Malaysia Airports.
Students also received RM200 in 'duit raya' and
chocolate hampers worth RM300 each at the ceremony.
SK KLIA Headmistress, Rumiah Abd Jalil expressed her
gratitude and said, "We at SK KLIA are very honoured by
Malaysia Airports to ease the burden on our students in their
preparation for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations. We hope
that the noble efforts of Malaysia Airports and all the volunteers
involved on this day would be rewarded, even more so during
the blessed month of Ramadhan."
Also present at the breaking of fast was Malaysia Airports'
Chief Financial Officer, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, Malaysia
Airports senior management, SK BBST Headmistress, Sa'adiah
Hussin, SK KLIA and SK BBST teachers and employees of
