CONFESSIONS OF A
TRAVELHOLIC
JOJO STRUYS
If we start listing the accomplishments Jojo Struys
has done over the years, we might run out of
space. Her list includes being a social activist,
model, health enthusiast, producer and director,
TV host, radio personality, nature lover and most
importantly, her penchant for travel. Phew! In this
issue of Convergence, Jojo offers glimpses of her
travels and how it has enriched and continues to
enrich her life and the people surrounding her.
her travelogue,'Letting Go with Jojo
HOW FREQUENTLY DO YOU TRAVEL AND
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SO FAR? WE
ASSUME THE LIST IS LONG! PERHAPS
DESTINATIONS THAT HAVE LEFT QUITE
THE MARK ON YOU?
You're right... it is a long list. I've been to almost 35 countries
in the last two years and when I was shooting my travel series
for Discovery Channel Asia, I was practically living life out of
a suitcase. There are many countries that have touched me
for different reasons. I loved how rustic Nepal was and the
people are so friendly and flying past Mount Everest was a
breathtaking sight. I also loved how Japan was so deeply
cultural and super organised. You could also get addicted to
their 'onsens' or natural hot springs. They're truly therapeutic
for the soul, especially when you're sitting in piping hot water
surrounded by snow-capped mountains in Sapporo. It was
incredible! I fell in love with the charming town of Rishikesh
because I spent a month living in an ashram there by the
foothills of the Himalayas in India where I was studying yoga.
It's a holy town with the famous Ganges river that runs right
through it. And the list goes on...
