Ordinary users don’t have access <strong>to</strong> the dictionary views whose names begin with<br />

, because that would give them the ability <strong>to</strong> obtain information about other users.<br />

Instead, they have access <strong>to</strong> special sets of views whose names begin with and .<br />

The views whose names begin with show only those objects the current user actually<br />

owns. As illustrated in Listing 8-5, <strong>Oracle</strong> displays an error message when user tries<br />

<strong>to</strong> query the view. When user queries the view instead, <strong>Oracle</strong><br />

displays the same information that we saw in Listing 8-1. And, interestingly enough, when<br />

user queries the table, we see that it has access <strong>to</strong> tables in several other<br />

schemas.<br />
