Investigate and Analyze the Problem
The DBA now begins looking for information that may shed light on the problem. The
first thing he does is check the alert log. He finds that the database is healthy, and he is
able to connect to it without going through the listener, that is, using a local session on
the database server itself. This phase ends when he discovers that there are two listeners.
This is apparently the cause of the problem, because the timestamp of the last good entry
in the alert log coincides with the time when the second listener was started.
