The traditional festival, which first began during the Tang dynasty, is still ushered in grand form throughout the modern cosmopolitan city. For visitors, this celebration serves as an enticing avenue to immerse themselves into the culture of Hong Kong and its people. Mooncakes remain one of the key cornerstones of the celebrations. The traditional pastries are still made the old-fashioned way with rich pastry stuffed with lotus seed paste and whole egg yolks.
