| Profile NAFL-Yearbook 2018 Mahmood Al Bastaki CEO, Dubai Trade President, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport-UAE Board of Trustees Eng. Mahmood Al Bastaki is the CEO of Dubai Trade since 2005, leading the government agency in introducing innovative solutions to streamline the process of doing business in Dubai and transforming it into the supplychain e-hub of the world. The US-educated Al Bastaki who studied Electronics Engineering Technology from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock began his career in the public sector as a Speech Recognition Expert in the Forensic Laboratory of Dubai Police where he successfully set up a Voice Analysis Division. In 1998, he completed his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Oregon Graduate Institute and subsequently worked as a Senior Engineer in Products & Services Development at the multi-national Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company between 1999 and 2002. An expert in e-commerce solutions, Al Bastaki served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Dubai World Corporate Departments before becoming the CEO of Dubai Trade FZE. He was also named as an advisor to the Dubai Expo 2020 bid team and a member of the UAE National C o m m i t t e e o f W o r l d Tr a d e Organization as well as the president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport - UAE Board of Trustees. He also serves as an advisory board member of the National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL). Al Bastaki also served as the former acting director of E-Services of Dubai E-Government where he formulated the 2005 E-Government Strategy. He managed critical projects such as the governmental Electronic Payment Gateway “ePay”, Unified Contact Center “AskDubai”, and Web Hosting and Management Platform “eHost”. In 2013, he was adjudged as the winner of the “Accomplished Leaders” category of the Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed E-University and was voted as the “Popular CEO of the Year” at the 6th International Maritime Awards. Al Bastaki is also a graduate of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Leadership Development Program and Dubai World Leaders Program in association with the University of Pennsylvani's Wharton School of Government. | NAFL-Yearbook 2018 Profile Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi Chairman, Ras Al Khaimah Department of Customs and Seaports Chairman, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr al Qasimi, a member of the ruling family of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) in the United Arab Emirates, is the chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Customs and Seaports, the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone Authority (RAK FTZ), among many other entities. Under his vision and leadership, the ports and the free trade zone at Ras Al Khaimah thrived and grew with more investors enticed to set up companies in the emirate with its diversified taxfree business-friendly products and services. The US-educated Sheikh Ahmed is known for promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship, enticing foreign investment to come in to create a vibrant and economically viable future for Ras Al Khaimah. Sheikh Ahmed also chairs the RAK Investment Authority (RAKIA), the RAK National Insurance Co., Falcon Technologies and the RAK Hospitality Holding. The eight son of the late Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the former ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Ahmed was born in Ras Al Khaimah on October 21, 1977. He is married with three children. Apart from being heavily involved with business and politics in RAK, Sheikh Ahmed is also well known for his philanthropy. He supports countless orphans with their educational and living expenses as well as contributing financially to widows and divorcees.
