Transact XML •

Transact XML • Identify tags you will be using in XML (Engage database and template fields). • Identify content for the template. After the initial setup is complete and Silverpop enables Transact, you can create the mailing database, mailing template, and the group of automated messages. Note that you cannot perform tests until you accomplish the preceding items. Setting the Notification Email Address for Transact Errors This setting is available in the General Settings. In the Notification Email field, enter the email address where you want to receive Transact error notifications. Setting the Time Zone for the User This setting is available in the User Profile settings. You'll need to select the time zone for the area from which you will be sending XML Submit documents. Setting the IP Address You will need to set the IP address from which you will send messages. The Transact server will only accept submissions from IP addresses set up in advance within Engage. You must set, within Engage, the IP address you use for testing, as well as the IP address used by your system (in production) or Transact will reject the submission. Note: The Transact server will respond to XML Submit documents sent using HTTP by sending a Response Document back using HTTP (FTP responses are saved in the FTP status directory). When testing, this document will display in your browser. See Test Mailings for additional information. To set the Submission IP address: 1. Click Settings > Org Admin > Security Settings (you must have Organization Administrative rights to choose this option). The Access Restrictions form appears. 2. Add your IP address (do not select any check boxes). 3. Click the Add button to set an IP address to use for sending XML Submit documents. The Add Allowed IP dialog box appears. 8 www.silverpop.com 1-866-SILVPOP (745-8767) © 2012 Silverpop Systems Inc. All rights reserved.

Transact XML 4. Enter the exact IP address, including periods (do not enter any User or API settings). 5. Click OK. Engage adds the IP address to the database. 6. Repeat as necessary. Note: It may take up to 10 minutes for the settings to take effect. Other Setup Tasks for Transact Create the following on the user’s system for Transact mailings: Contact names and information. The Engage contact database is blank. You must identify the Personalization fields (tags) used in the XML for the database. Your system will dynamically generate the contact name and information. Content sent in the XML CDATA. Your system can dynamically customize and send all content for the transactional email. It is not necessary to include this information manually in the Engage template (with the exception of fields). Notes: • You can include URLs in the CDATA. • Personalization fields used to identify contact information and URLs in the XML Submit document must be set up in the Engage database and template (and identified in the XML elements for the Submit Document). Exception: you do not need to include a field in the template for data that will only be stored in the database. How do I create and send a successful Transact XML submission? As a marketer, you will need to complete the steps below to create and send a successful XML submission. 1. Create a shared, non-email key database, without any contacts. 2. Create a Group of Automated Messages with Transact as the event trigger, and then activate it. 3. Create a mailing template and add content. 4. Add Personalization tags to the database and template (optional). 5. Automate the mailing. 9 www.silverpop.com 1-866-SILVPOP (745-8767) © 2012 Silverpop Systems Inc. All rights reserved.
