Q. Professor Karl, I'm sorry to interrupt you. Those appear
in your CV, and I do intend to ask you about those.
I would like to focus upon the kinds of research you
do, just the academic research that you do for the moment.
A. Sure, sure.
Q. So you read archives of periodicals in El Salvador. Do
you interview people?
A. Most of my work in El Salvador is constant interviewing,
because almost everything else I can photocopy and take with
me.
So the time I spend in El Salvador is talking to
people, and it's the most important work. It's actually the
work I value the most of the work I have done the most. I
interview everybody in El Salvador that will talk to me and I
follow around people who won't talk to me until they agree to.
I have interviewed extensively all political parties.
I have interviewed extensively within the military and the
police. I have interviewed extensively inside the governing
party now, the ARENA Party.
I have traveled with various presidential candidates
on their presidential campaigns. That includes former
President Duarte and it includes Roberto D'Aubuisson, who
figures prominently in this case.
Q. You have interviewed Roberto D'Aubuisson?
KARL - D
