A questo tipo di intervento si affianca il concetto di conservare parte
dell’identità industriale degli edifici coinvolti, la cattedrale, seppur sventrata
e rifunzionalizzata con uno spazio di parcheggio al piano terra che andrà
a servire non solo il complesso preso in esame ma entrambi gli ambiti di
progetto, manterrà parte della copertura sull’affaccio posteriore, dove si
svilupperà una piazza semicoperta in condivisione con il complesso di
residenze universitarie non oggetto di questo approfondimento.
La parte che affaccia su Via Bertini verrà mantenuta nella tipologia
morfologica, ma sarà tagliata da un passaggio coperto, così da connettere
l’area analizzata con quella adiacente, creando un sistema in simbiosi,
nonostante siano stati utilizzati due approcci differenti. Qui vi prenderanno
posto le residenze con soppalchi al primo piano, che non andranno a
modificare drasticamente la struttura, ma piuttosto andranno ad incastonarsi
in forma di moduli lungo tutta la manica.
L’idea dei moduli residenziali sarà riproposta, seppur in tipologia
morfologica differente, nell’elemento centrale, che si staglia per 2 piani dal
livello della piazza sopraelevata. Questi alloggi hanno come base l’elemento
di collegamento tra l’area e la piazza retrostante: un piano di servizi studiato
non solo per gli users delle residenze e dei laboratori, quanto per chiunque
abbia modo di attraversare la piazza semi-coperta e si voglia fermare. Qui
vi trovano posto un’area ristorazione sia di tipo classico all’interno della
manica, sia di carattere più temporaneo, rappresentato da moduli “foodcontainer”
disseminati nell’impianto di pilastri mantenuti che sorreggono
la copertura esistente. Sempre all’interno degli spazi della manica centrale
vi sono uno sport bar ed una playroom, anch’essi a servizio sia dei residenti
dopo una giornata immersiva nei laboratori, sia dei passanti.
Non ultimi per importanza sono i laboratori, fulcro centrale dell’intervento,
estesi al primo piano del reparto presse, che avranno una parte al chiuso,
a seconda del tipo di lavorazione, e avranno delle pareti removibili, in

At this type of operation comes along the concept of preserving part of the
industrial identity of the involved buildings: the cathedral, even though is
dismantled and re-used with a parking space at the ground floor that will
serve both of the project areas, will maintain part of the roof shell on the
inside court, where it will take place a covered plaza, shared with the university
residence in front.
The part facing Bertini Street will be maintained in the morphological typology,
but it will be cut by a covered underpass, as to connect the project area
with the adjacent one, creating a system in symbiosis, despite the different
approaches used.
Here will be located the residences with the mezzanines, that will not change
drastically the existing structure, but will more placed in modules along
the stick building.
The modular idea will be re-proposed, despite the different morphological
typology, in the central element, that will be 3-story in total, above the plaza.
These apartments have in common the connecting part between the project
area and the covered square on the back: a service ground floor designed not
just for the residence users but also for anyone that will pass in the square
and will have the desire to stop there.
A classic restoration area will be inside the building, while a more temporary
type of food service will be provided by food containers, in between the
pillars of the old shed shell. Also, in the building part will be located a sport
bar and a play room.
In the end, the laboratories, core of the whole operation, will take place at
the first floor of the press units, and will have a closed and an open area,
depending on the work process, and will have removable walls, in order to
