LSS SWIM & LIFESAVING INSTRUCTOR
Providing theoretical and practical learning opportunities this
prepares candidates to teach most lifesaving awards. Candidates
explore proven teaching methods, learning activities and
evaluation criteria. 100% attendance is mandatory. Prerequisite:
16 + years, current Bronze Cross. Required Manuals: Canadian
Lifesaving Manual, Instructor’s PAC; additional fee and can be
purchased at the Customer Service Desk.

NATIONAL LIFEGUARD (pool option)
Become a nationally certified Lifeguard! Develop practical skills,
knowledge and values. Strong leadership, communication,
decision making and judgment skills are vital. Unsuccessful
candidates are required to take the entire course again. Prerequisites:
16 yrs, Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid with CPR-C .
PLEASE NOTE: The Lifesaving Society only accepts Standard First
Aid certificates that are recognized in the Ontario Public Pools
Regulation (565) specifically; those of the Lifesaving Society,
Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, and Canadian Ski
Patrol. Required Manuals: ALERT - Lifeguard In Action and Canadian
Lifesaving Manual Advanced courses require participants
to provide to the instructor, proof (certification cards) of prerequisite
completion. Manuals are an additional fee and can be
purchased at the Customer Service Desk. 100% attendance and
participation is mandatory.

values taught in the NL course to train lifeguards in safety supervision
and rescues in a waterfront environment. Unsuccessful
candidates are required to take the entire course again. Pre-requisites:
16 yrs, NL Pool option & Standard First Aid with CPR-C
(need not be current). PLEASE NOTE: The Lifesaving Society only
