Swimming Lesson Level Descriptions
SPECIALIZED COURSES
The Complete junior
Lifesaver Course: Participants
will work on skills from the Patrol (Rookie,
Ranger and Star) as well as Bronze Star levels,
progressing at their own pace. Each week
content will include: swimming skills and stroke
development, first aid and resuscitation skills,
lifesaving skills and rescues. Participants work
toward becoming certified in Basic First Aid
with CPR-A. Class length varies.
LSS Sport: Lifesaving Sport
Fundamentals is for swimmers who are 8 - 12
years old and have completed Swimmer 3
(or equivalent) or are able to swim 25m and
tread water for 45 seconds. The program
features personal best challenges, swim
workouts, sprints, and stroke development.
In addition the program teaches team
building, fair play, ethics in sport and
personal responsibility. 60 minute class
Spring Board Diving-Level
1: Participants will learn basic diving skills on
the 1-metre board based on the Ontario
Learn to Dive program. Participants
must have successfully completed
Swimmer 4. 60 minute class.
Spring Board Diving-
Level2: For those who have completed
Level 1 of the Spring Board Diving program.
Work at your own pace on the next levels
of the program. 60 minute class.
mermaid school: Want
to swim like a mermaid? Learn to use
the monofin safely and effectively while
performing mermaid skills and techniques.
Monofin and mermaid tail provided.
Must be Swimmer 5 ability or above.
mermaid school try It:
One hour Mermaid School single lesson.
Adult (14 yrs & better)
Adult 1: Work towards a 10–15m front
and back swim. Jump entries from the side and
recover an object from the bottom in chest
deep water. Improve fitness and flutter kick
with 4 x 9–12m interval training. 45 minute
class.
Adult 2: Kick it up a notch working on
two interval training workouts of 4 x 25m
kicking and front or back crawl. You’ll be
able to perform dive entries and demonstrate
breaststroke arms and breathing over 10–15m.
You’ll be supporting yourself at the surface
for 1–2 minutes, and showing off your
handstands in shallow water. 45 minute class.
Adult 3: No sweat (or at least none
anyone can see). You’ll learn eggbeater,
stride entries and compact jumps. You’ll
be doing a 300m workout and sprinting
25–50m. You’ll master your front crawl, back
crawl and breaststroke. 45 minute class.
stroke Improvement
Adult: This program wil help you improve
your endurance and stroke mechanics. Perfect
for those looking to meet the challenge
of advanced courses or to get more out
of their fitness swim. 45 minute class.
