Swimming Lesson Program
The City of Barrie offers the Lifesaving
Society Swim for Life ® program!
You can spot Water Smart ® kids right away. They’re the ones who know how
to swim and behave safely around water. The Lifesaving Society’s Swim for
Life program makes sure your kids are Water Smart ® before they get in too
deep.
You’re never too young to start and never too old to learn. Swim for Life ®
offers different strokes for different folks of all ages and abilities.
Swim for Life ® is a comprehensive swim instruction program that is
accessible, flexible, success-oriented and fun. Swimmers get lots of
in-water practice in every lesson. Register today.

NOT SURE WHAT LEVEL TO REGISTER IN?
The City of Barrie offers free swim lesson assessments. Please contact your local pool to set up a time. If you did not
participate in swimming lessons in the previous session, we recommend your child attend an assessment or that you
register your child in the level they previously took, regardless of whether they passed. Some children’s swimming
skills do regress if they are not swimming on a regular basis. See program descriptions for prerequisites & age
requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: The Preschool program is for ages 3 to 5. The Swimmer program is for ages 5 to 12. The content for Preschool
5 is similar to Swimmer 2 and the content of Preschool 4 is similar to Swimmer 1. The main differences are the ages of the
children within these two groups.
