apply and pay for building permits, schedule inspections, and track

the status of your application. Visit barrie.ca/APLI.

furnace. Carbon Monoxide alarms expire and need to be replaced.

Follow manufacturer instructions for replace by date.

COURT SERVICES (PROVINCIAL OFFENCES)

The City of Barrie operates two administrative offices:

Barrie – 45 Cedar Pointe Drive

Orillia – 575 West Street, South, Unit 10

Open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

Option 1 – Individuals may attend at any Provincial Offences Office

in the Province to pay their fine(s). Payments can be made by cash,

cheque, debit card or credit card.

All cheques mailed to the Barrie or Orillia Provincial Offences

Offices must be made payable to the “City of Barrie.” Most fines

can be paid online at www.paytickets.ca. You may attend at the

address noted on your ticket to exercise other options such as:

Option 2 – Pleading guilty with submissions to penalty in front

of a Justice of the Peace within 15 days of being served with the

ticket. The Justice of the Peace can only accept a guilty plea to the

alleged offence. The Justice of the Peace can assess your personal

circumstances as to your ability to pay the fine and may provide

additional time to pay. Please review the available dates and times

noted on the reverse of the ticket in order to exercise this option.

Option 3 – Requesting a trial date for the alleged offence. In the

Barrie and Orillia Court Service Branch, requests for trial may also

be made by signing the reverse of the offence notice (ticket) and

delivering or mailing it to the correct Provincial Offences Office

within 15 days of being served with the offence notice. Upon receipt

of the request within the allotted time frame, court administration

will set a date and time for trial. A notice of trial will be sent in the

mail to the address noted on the offence notice. If your address is

different than noted on the face of the ticket, your correct mailing

address is required to be noted on the rear of the ticket (space

provided) so the notice of trial is sent to the correct address.

Failing to exercise one of the options within the time frame as

noted on the reverse side of the ticket may result in a conviction

against a defendant, additional costs and fees, possible driver’s

licence suspension and further civil collection activity.

You can now check the status of your case with “POA Online Case

Lookup” available via ontario.ca/ticketsandfines.
