ON-STREET PARKING

Unless otherwise signed or metered, you can park on any street

in Barrie. Drivers are reminded they are not permitted to park

within 1.5m of a driveway, on or over a sidewalk, on a boulevard or

within 3m of a fire hydrant. Parking violations in Community Safety

Zones are subject to a fine of $60. Please see the Traffic By-law at

barrie.ca/bylaws.

Winter Overnight Parking Restrictions

As per the Overnight Parking By-law, on-street parking is

not permitted from 3–6 a.m. within the Downtown Business

Improvement Area, and on other City streets from 12:01 – 7 a.m.,

December 1 through March 31. This ensures the City can completely

clear streets of snow and that large emergency vehicles can get

down the street. Outside of the December 1 through March 31,

overnight on-street parking will not be permitted should a “Winter

Maintenance Event” be declared. Winter Maintenance Events can

be declared when anticipated weather requires snow plowing,

sanding, salting, direct liquid application, snow removal or other

winter maintenance operations. Visit barrie.ca/snow for more

information.

Information regarding property assessments/reassessment, details

or visit 45 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie, to obtain information before

you erect any sign.

SMOKE ALARMS

Smoke alarms provide early warning in case of a fire. You must have

at least one smoke alarm on every storey of your home and outside

sleeping areas. Barrie Fire and Emergency Service recommends that

smoke alarms also be installed inside bedrooms. Smoke alarms

need to be replaced every ten years, even if electronically wired

into your home. When replacing a smoke alarm you must replace

like for like. For example, hard-wired with hard-wired, battery with

battery. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to install and

maintain these alarms.

Parking tickets can now also be paid online, using a credit card at

Barrie.ca. Parking tickets may be paid (cash, cheque, money order,

Visa, Mastercard, Debit Card) in person at Service Barrie (1st floor),
