the performance
area
requirements among the respective groups is evident. Generally all groups
allocated high priority to job requirements related to interpersonal skills. In all
areas, close to 90% of respondents selected all these job requirements as
important. While CESs and EDOs saw conflict resolution and negotiation as
most important and essential, Subject Advisors, found these requirements less
so. Subject Advisors, however, placed high value on “creating and monitoring
sound human relations among colleagues”.
Personal Capacity
Overall, more than 50% of the respondents felt that they had capacity in the
areas of responsibilities noted. On average, respondents felt that they had
least capacity in their capacity to negotiate and resolve conflicts (Table 73).
When the information is examined by job classes (Table 74), CESs and EDOs
emerged as having the most self-assessed capacity, and Subject Advisors
least so. Again, respondents generally assessed themselves as having least
capacity in the area of negotiation and conflict resolution. CESs and EDOs
also feel especially confident in facilitating meetings and group processes.
