From classic to popular

In the first meetings of the group of professionals invited to participate in the execution

of the project that was announced as revealing the Brazilian cultural scene, it was still

impalpable the concrete idea of its permeability in a wide, diverse, multicultural territory.

From the elaborate proposal, however, the significant number of interviews with people

from the most diverse sectors that would give the direction of the conclusions instigated me

to its understanding like the dream project of someone who has long breathed culture.

From the discussions about the conceptualization of the project to the composition

of the groups of interviewees, from the intensive reading of academic papers to the rereading

of interviews and definition of the strategies to contemplate, in the publication, the

quantity and quality of the information collected, everything was a work of effective

leadership and of the cohesive team that unveiled the possibility of showing clearly and

precisely, in words and numbers, the current position of our culture.

Comprehensive, Sectorial Panorama of Brazilian Culture in its first edition opens up

a perspective for the continuity of updating its data, according to the dynamics of culture

itself.

I want to thank for the opportunity to share the work of Panorama.

A new look

It is with great satisfaction that we participate in the Sectorial Panorama of Brazilian

Culture project. The socioeconomic development that has taken place in Brazil in the last

decades, together with the intensification of investments in the country, generate a new look at

the thinking and the relation of the Brazilian citizen to cultural valorization. This process is

reflected in the entire productive chain of culture, stimulating cultural production and,

consequently, investment.

These changes in the Brazilian scenario and the heterogeneity of our culture result in a

challenge that instigates MC15 to contribute in the search for knowledge regarding the

relations that permeate the Productive Chain of Culture.
