It has been a year of great work, dedication and pleasure to get here. We
have long wondered about the lack of information in the culture environment and, in
this research, we combine our experience in cultural production and knowledge
production on the sector.
The resizing of time and space, provoked by technological evolution and the
fluidification of information, had a direct impact on social, economic and cultural
contexts. Relationships and exchanges of information have gained prominence in the
information society. Culture, more than ever, is a strong symbolic system permeating
interactions in global society. However, in this context, it gains political and economic
status, situating itself as a resource for socioeconomic development. This context also
reinforced our perception. In fact, the cultural sector lacks information and reference
materials to plan its activities. This understanding has given us the challenge of
conducting the Sectorial Panorama of Brazilian Culture.
Contribute to the production of information from a sector of activities that formed
us, welcomed us and made us realize the need to continue, study, research more
and, mainly, share this knowledge guided the spirit undertaken in this mission. While
on the one hand, the intimacy with the industry provoked us to start this project, on the
other hand, it made it difficult for us to demand a distancing for the observation that
was only possible with the adoption of strict methodologies and well-defined contexts.
Thus, we began with "Brazil and Culture", a historical rescue of the political
construction that has brought us so far and, as a consequence, a "Conceptual Map"
with the presentation of the perspectives that guided us in this research. In "How the
Panorama of Brazilian Culture was Conducted", we established the grading of all
work, its components and its intentions. It is in this chapter that the approaches to
research and this material are presented so that the reading of the research results,
presented after this chapter, can flow in the best way. All the material is intersected by
experiences and cultural initiatives, narrated journalistically, that serve as inspiration
for us to follow.
Just as this research has given us the opportunity to learn and once again share
the experiences of admirable professionals: producers, managers and decision
makers; we hope that this information can contribute to the learning and development
of the cultural players in Brazil.
Enjoy your reading.
