ANNEx A: <strong>EN</strong>ERGy MANAGEM<strong>EN</strong>t CHECklISt<br />

The energy management checklist is an important <strong>in</strong>strument<br />

for you to review, either when <strong>in</strong>itiat<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

EnMS or when close to complet<strong>in</strong>g the implementation<br />

process, whether you have optimally <strong>in</strong>troduced the<br />

EnMS accord<strong>in</strong>g to the <strong>DIN</strong> <strong>EN</strong> <strong>16001</strong>:2009 standard.<br />

The checklist <strong>in</strong>cludes a series of checkpo<strong>in</strong>ts which are<br />

formulated as questions. If you have implemented the<br />

EnMS correctly, you will be <strong>in</strong> a position to answer the<br />

questions with “YES”. The checklist consists of 86 ques-<br />

tions. On the hand right side of the table, you will also<br />

f<strong>in</strong>d a column for comments on every <strong>in</strong>dividual po<strong>in</strong>t.<br />

Comments can, for example, be measures or references<br />

to some specific areas which require further attention.<br />

At the end of the checklist, you will f<strong>in</strong>d the summarised<br />

analysis of all the sub-questions. In this, note the<br />

number of questions answered with YES and NO per<br />

section. This will help you to quickly identify the areas<br />

that show an optimal implementation or, if necessary,<br />

those that need further improvement.<br />

Use the comments column dur<strong>in</strong>g the review process. After audit<strong>in</strong>g and certification,<br />

it serves as a good guidel<strong>in</strong>e for improvement and optimisation measures.<br />
