Italian companies and the BRI, as emerged
from the questionnaire. Only a small minority of
respondents said they had been involved in BRIrelated
projects and an even smaller group said
they had been successful. In this sense, it would
be appropriate to reinforce initiatives specifically
addressing the opportunities for SMEs in the
context of the BRI.
Promoting Italian investment.
Attracting Italian investment
to China also emerged as
one of the most popular
actions when asked what
is the best approach
to deal with China’s
qualitative growth.
Italy has traditionally
lagged behind its
European partners in
terms of investment
stock, a gap that must
necessarily be reduced
if economic relations
between the two countries
are to be strengthened. 2020
was the year when the ‘New
Law on Foreign Investments’
came into force, but its impact is
difficult to assess due to the pandemic crisis.
In order to make up for lost time, it might be
appropriate to promote an information campaign
on the opportunities that are developing. At
the same time, continuing to open up new
sectors to foreign investment, including within
the framework of supranational bilateral
agreements, could undoubtedly be welcomed by
Italian companies.
italiane e BRI, come emerso dal questionario.
Solo una esigua minoranza, infatti, ha dichiarato
di essere stata coinvolta in progetti legati
all’iniziativa e un gruppo ancora minore afferma
di averlo fatto con successo. In questo senso,
sarebbe allora opportuno rinforzare iniziative
specificamente rivolte alle opportunità per le
PMI nel contesto della BRI.
Favorire gli investimenti italiani. Tra
le azioni selezionate maggiormente
nell’ambito del quesito su quale
sia il miglior approccio per
confrontarsi con la crescita
qualitativa cinese è emersa
anche l’attrazione degli
investimenti italiani
in Cina. L’Italia è
tradizionalmente più
indietro nei confronti
dei partner europei
in termini di stock
di investimenti, un
gap che deve essere
necessariamente ridotto
