Short-term<br />
Dr. Juan Chavez visited Bozeman for a minisabbatical<br />
and completed two papers from his<br />
Ph.D thesis. He also updated his bibliography<br />
and edited a paper, "El Ovino Criollo en el<br />
Perd," which has recently been translated into<br />
English.<br />
A workshop in Cuzco, Peru, Septe<strong>mb</strong>er 11-13,<br />
entitled, "<strong>Research</strong> results of the SR-CRSP in<br />
Perd (1980-1990)," was attended by 40 professionals<br />
from INIAA, the Ministry of Agriculture,<br />
universities, and cooperatives.<br />
A workshop was held in Rioba<strong>mb</strong>a, Ecuador,<br />
Nove<strong>mb</strong>er 29-30, 1989. Fourty-eight professionals<br />
attended from the Ministry of Agriculture<br />
and Livestock, the Institute of Agrarian Reform,<br />
three universities, and private institutions. The<br />
publication "Corso Taller Resultados de<br />
Investigacion del Programa Rumiantes Menores<br />
(1980-1990)," was used in this workshop.<br />
A workshop on "Radioisotopes use in Molecular<br />
Genetics" was held May 15-25 with 15<br />
participents sponsored jointly by The National<br />
Agarian University, International Atomic<br />
Energy Commission, and the SR-CRSP.<br />

Dr. Juan Chavez attended the Latin American<br />
Association of Animal Production Meetings in<br />
Campanis, Brazil, July 22-27 and presented a<br />
paper entitled "Respuesta Productiva al<br />
Cruzamiento de Carneros Targhee y Targhee-<br />
Finnish con Borregas Fl Targhee x Junin y<br />
Targhee-Finish x Junin en Predras de la Sierra<br />
Central del Perd."<br />

Contributions To Host Country<br />
The Peruvian collaborating scientists in<br />
genetics, reproduction, anima' health, and range<br />
and forages programs were to provide in 1990<br />
in-country training and consultation services to<br />
the Livestock <strong>Research</strong> Division and <strong>Research</strong><br />
Experimental Stations of INIAA. The training<br />
will include workshops, conferences, meetings<br />
as well as individual instruction and guidance<br />
on small ruminant production and research.<br />
