การพัฒนาในอนาคตของอุตสาหกรรมแสงสว่างยังคงอยู่บนฐาน
ของ Solid State Lighting ซึ ่งยังได้รับการพัฒนาเรื่องประสิทธิภาพ
และทาให้นักออกแบบโคมไฟสามารถเห็นแนวทางในการออกแบบ
ที่แตกต่างไปจากเดิมได้มากยิ่งขึ ้น การพัฒนาอย่างรวดเร็วของ
เทคโนโลยีหลอดไฟ LED ได้ทาให้อุตสาหกรรมโคมไฟแสงสว่างเกิด
ความพลิกผันไปทั้งระบบ ซึ ่งนอกจากทาให้ผู้ผลิตและผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้อง
มากมายต้องปรับตัวแล้ว ยังทาให้ห่วงโซ่อุปทานส่วนใหญ่ของ
หลอดไฟอื่นๆ หยุดชะงัก
Future development of Lighting Industries is still
holding on to Solid State Lighting, which will be
even more efficient and allow luminaire designers
to explore more possibilities. The advanced development
of LED technology has already disrupted
lighting industries and caused most of the supply
chain of other light sources
to discontinue.

ผู้ผลิตส่วนประกอบไฟ LED รายใหญ่ที่สุดสาหรับทั้งหลอดไฟและ
โคมไฟตั้งอยู่ในประเทศจีน แต่ส่วนประกอบคุณภาพสูงและล ้าหน้า
กว่านั้นยังคงผลิตในยุโรป ประเทศตะวันตกในยุโรปและอเมริกายัง

Technology Ladkrabang,
and a Master of Fine Arts
in Design and Technology
from Parsons School of
Design in New York. She
worked as an architectural
lighting designer in New
York and USA for more
than ten years and is now
based in Bangkok and
working as an independent
Lighting Design Consultant.
The largest manufacturers of LED components
for both light sources and Luminaire are located
in China. More advanced and higher quality
components are still made in Europe. The luminaire
design technology is still led from western countries
in Europe and America. Design trends are, however,
dictated from the global market, not from the
region.
With Sustainability and Well-being high up on
global design trends, better quality light sources
and luminaires have become more affordable and
available in our market. More manufacturers are
changing manufacturing methods toward more
recyclable and sustainable materials to reduce
toxic waste. High-quality plastic is now replacing
the metal base material. LED light sources are
better in the Color Rendering Index, providing
a better visible lighting spectrum.
Retrofit style luminaire with E27 or MR16 GX3.5
lamps bases will be obsolete in a few years from
now. We will have to accept the integrated LED
technology, which can last longer, but spare parts
may not be available in the open market. Lighting
specifiers need to make a wise choice for luminaire
selections as it can be considered a long-term
investment. Understanding Luminaire’s quality
and value, including the extended function of
the lighting system, is essential for specifiers in
Lighting Designer Practices especially to provide
an appropriate selection to fit the best value for
the budget and meet standards and quality for
design.
