Greek Word Pisteuó (Lexical from) [verb] – Which in most translaons is rendered as believing (or just belief) in the early church means more than mere acknowledgment of something as true or mental agreement with a concept or idea which is what the word belief typically means in English. Instead, it means actual trust within a personal relaonship, it would probably be best to think of it within a relaonal covenant, to the point of confidence and acon based on that relaonship. Pisteuó is basically the verbal form of Piss and should probably be translated as trust or trusng in, in an acve tense, and rely or relying on, in an acve tense. Understanding this word; believe. To believe is much more than an intellectual decision. To believe is to cause change. To believe is to cause acon. Consider the word believe in the following scripture. • "and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead." • "whoever believes in Him should not perish." • "he who believes in Me will do the works that I do also". The word “believe” here is the word Pisteuó used 248 mes and shown here used in Romans 10:9-10, John 3:14-16 and the same word in John 14:12. To the early church, this word meant far more than to the church today who oen sell it to dying souls as an intellectual acknowledgment as opposed to a vow of faithfulness. The early church would understand this to mean trusng with a personal relaonship, being in a relaonal covenant, to having confidence that produces acon because of the relaonship. You can't give what you don’t have. Are you persuaded of the promises of God, are you convinced in the truth of the word of God, do you have a convicon of things hoped for and an assurance of things not seen, are you absolutely dependent and reliant in the Word of God and on Christ, have you fully surrendered, yielded and are obedient to all know truth, do you trust wholly and unreservedly in the faithfulness of God, have you given yourself over to this new way of life, do you call into existence those things that do not exist as if they do, do you have joyful faith and have you accepted Christ as the substute for sin and as the only way to be saved, do you have access into grace, live righteously, are you a son, have you been set free are your prayers answered.
