electrician. In the interim, my mother had been speaking to my real dad and had
been seng it up so that I could go meet him. I was going to get on a bus and
travel to Cape Town where he lived and spend a few weeks with him. For some
reason that first bus trip didn’t happen, actually, the bus I was supposed to catch
had an accident on its way to the cape and some folk had died. Whether it was
divine intervenon or not I don’t know but some me went by, and I was on an
airplane heading to meet my Dad. I was excited and nervous, and I thought finally
I would have a dad that actually cared about me. The first thing out of his mouth
was do you smoke pot? He wasn’t asking to see what type of kid I was he was
asking because he wanted to smoke some weed. It's not that I didn’t smoke weed,
I was a casual pot smoker and enjoyed a joint with my friends now and then.
Unbeknown to me this very day was the start of a life of drug addicon that I
would struggle with for the next 20 years. From pot to cocaine, it was full speed
ahead. A short visit turned into many years of living in Cape Town.
It didn’t take long for my “real” dad to throw me out of his house, He sat me down
one day and said he preferred his peace and quiet and that I should rather come
back when I shaved every day. With that he threw me out, I had no were to go, my
family in Durban didn’t want me, my mom had met another man before I had le
and they had since married, my brother had moved in with my stepdad, and his
second, third or fourth woman aer leaving my mother. I told my real Dad I had
nowhere to go and he said to move into the garage and that’s what I did, I stayed
in the garage for a few years but I had no intenon of being stuck there so it didn’t
take long and I found a job, work by day college at night and I studied whilst my
friends and I ran our side hustle selling bankies of Durban poison pot to upperclass
clientele, we were different and we offered door to door delivery, business
was good. There is a very long story and many other things that happened
throughout this me, but none was very good. I became a person who cared
nothing for anyone but myself.

down by smoking methaqualone, also known as mandrax or 714’s.
