What will I learn?
This course has been designed
to give you the opportunity to
explore a number of different
topics and develop the essential
skills and knowledge you need to
work successfully in a business
environment.
You’ll explore how businesses
operate, find out about different
types of businesses and how they
are managed and use financial
tools to support growth and
maximise profits. You will also
discover how businesses use
marketing to deliver sales and
the importance good customer
service and branding has on their
reputation.
You'll have the opportunity to
interact and learn from some of the
region's largest businesses and hear
from inspirational entrepreneurs
who will share their experiences
with you.
The skills and knowledge you gain
will help you decide the direction
you want your career to take and
specialise in an area you’re most
interested in, choosing from:

What will I learn?
On this course you’ll learn the
theory behind how businesses
are run. This includes how and why
businesses produce financial
statements, finding out about
successful marketing campaigns
and events and the processes
businesses go through when
recruiting new staff. Along with
your studies you will develop a
range of skills that are highly sought
after by all employers, such as
time management, organisation,
communication and resilience.
1. Leadership and Management
You will be given the opportunity
to develop your leadership and
management skills through a range
of workshops, trips and visits and
guest speakers who will share a
wealth of knowledge and expertise
with you to allow you to pursue
a career in leadership and equip
you with the skills, knowledge and
behaviours needed to become
the future leaders in the business
world. You will also complete a
CMI qualification to make you
stand out in the jobs market.
2. Digital Marketing
Living in a digital world requires
businesses to compete on a digital
level. You will be working with
leading businesses to develop
your digital marketing skills
and meet industry specialists
who will show you the tricks of
the trade. All students will also
complete a Google Garage
marketing qualification.
3. People Management and Law
It's important that businesses look
after and develop their talent
to ensure they are the most
competitive business on the market.
You will be working with industry
specialists and securing a mentor
from a local firm including a law
firm which will help you learn about
the actions businesses must take
to stay within the boundaries of the
law, how to recruit the best people
to ensure you have the right skill
set in your team, how to motivate
your staff to reach their full potential
and how to get people to work
together to maximise results.
4. Investment Finance and Accounting
The world of finance is growing,
from trading on the stock market,
investment banking, financial
planners to accountants, the
demand for skilled staff is high.
You will develop your finance skills
and knowledge by attending
work placements in a financial
setting, working with local finance
companies and having guest
speakers come in to discuss careers
and opportunities in the industry.
Students will also complete an
AAT accounting qualification.
