What will I learn?<br />

If you’re interested in working in the<br />

construction industry but are not<br />

sure which trade area to specialise<br />

in, this course is the perfect<br />

opportunity to develop the practical<br />

skills needed by employers in the<br />

industry, while giving you a taster of<br />

a variety of trades.<br />

You will study an introduction to<br />

health and safety as well as a range<br />

of trade skills including carpentry<br />

and joinery, bricklaying, plumbing<br />

and electrical installation.<br />

Once you have completed this<br />

course, you’ll be in a better position<br />

to decide which trade you would<br />

like to specialise in.<br />

Bricklaying<br />

Level 1<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Two GCSEs at 3 or above, ideally<br />

including English and maths or<br />

equivalent.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This introductory course will<br />

help prepare you for work in the<br />

construction industry or give you<br />

the qualification to progress on to<br />

the Level 2 bricklaying course to<br />

develop your knowledge and skills<br />

further.<br />

You’ll learn through a combination<br />

of hands-on practical training and<br />

classroom based activities.<br />

Level 2<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

You must have a full Level 1<br />

qualification in a relevant subject<br />

area.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

Hands-on training in our industry<br />

standard workshops will provide<br />

you with the skills needed to be<br />

a bricklayer or to progress to<br />

an apprenticeship. Alongside<br />

bricklaying skills, you’ll be trained<br />

in arches and openings, various<br />

types of walling and all aspects of<br />

building. You’ll also have the chance<br />

to develop your skills through work<br />

experience placements.<br />
