Scope and Content Note
This subseries contains material (circa 3,200 leaves) orphaned when the volume
structure of CTP changed in development. In the earlier planning stages of CTP, an
alphabetical index and a numerical index were envisioned at various times as
independent elements and as a combined volume in the series. An appendix, a listing of
miscellaneous categories of information about Pompeii, would supplement these indices.
In the final publication, however, the majority of this material was incorporated into
volume II. The alphabetical index became the "Toponymy" section and a portion of the
material from the numerical index was published in a chapter of that volume.
