General Italian art, archaeology and history, circa 1730-1996
Scope and Content Note
A wide range of materials relating to the art and archaeology of Italy form this section
of the archive. The bulk of the material falls into two groups: that related to the
archaeology of areas of Italy other than Campania, and that related to Vander Poel's
interest in various churches in Rome and the work of Professor Pico Cellini on fresco
restoration. Of particular interest is a set of clippings on Italian archaeology, the core
of which may have been assembled by Della Corte.
Box 537*-539* Set of clippings related to the archaeology of Italy, 1850-1976, bulk 1929-1938
Scope and Content Note
The core of the set may have been assembled by Matteo Della Corte, but Vander
