Research on Salomon Reinach, Répertoire de peintures grecques et romains , 1969-1980, undated Physical Description: 2.9 linear feet Scope and Content Note Salomon Reinach (1858-1932) was a French archaeologist best known for his encyclopedic compilations of ancient art. Vander Poel's interest focused on Reinach's 1922 volume of line drawings of frescoes and mosaics, Répertoire de peintures grecques et romains . Vander Poel intended to produce a three-volume work providing a bibliography of these paintings, the provenance, dates of excavation, inventory numbers and present location, as well as an index of all figure identifications to date. Box 272-277 Lists of paintings from Pompeii, undated Scope and Content Note Vander Poel compiled two sets of lists of paintings, arranged by page number in Reinach. Each entry includes the location of the painting and bibliography. The two sets are differentiated by the level of detail and amount of bibliography included.
