3.4. Summary
The tactics for homing provides a picture of what people do in order to establish a sense
of home in a globalized world. The taxonomy is identified through ethnographic studies
and described through ‘characteristics of home’ based on the literature review. The
tactics were mapped out to provide an overview of their internal relations, which were
further explained in the section about the boundaries between the tactics.
The tactics were transformed into taxonomy of homing interactions in order to
operationalize them into the design process. This led to a new description of each homing
interaction in terms of what design sensitivities should be applied when designing
towards a specific tactic. It is also possible to design for multiple tactics in one product.
