smaller house compared to the others, but travel more often <strong>for</strong> leisure than many of the<br />

others interviewed. I furthermore went to the home of Zhen, a 50-­‐year-­‐old immigrant<br />

<strong>and</strong> entrepreneur who live with her husb<strong>and</strong> in Los Angeles. They have two children who<br />

have just moved out of the home <strong>for</strong> educational purpose. They are in the middle of<br />

constructing a large new home in a gated community.<br />

The last interviews are conducted in Dubai, where I interviewed a newly retired British<br />

businessman in his mid 50’s, Sean, who live with his wife <strong>and</strong> adult daughter while their<br />

son ran the family business in Engl<strong>and</strong>. I furthermore experience the home of a<br />

Sc<strong>and</strong>inavian businessman, Alfred, who was also newly retired. He lives with his partner<br />

<strong>and</strong> travel to Europe multiple times every month. The largest home I have visited was<br />

under construction while I was there <strong>and</strong> Burhaan, who also owns 9 other homes around<br />

the world, owned it. He is in his mid 40’s <strong>and</strong> work in the real estate business. I also<br />

visited Ibrahim, a businessman in his early 30’s, who has just moved into his first dream<br />

home with his wife <strong>and</strong> their new son. Lastly I went to a penthouse apartment, where<br />

Scott lives. He is a general manager in a large company <strong>and</strong> also the second most frequent<br />

flyer at the airplane company. He lives with his wife <strong>and</strong> their two young children.<br />

In the coming paragraphs I will present some of the findings I have identified through<br />

analysis of the interviews.<br />

5.3. <strong>Tactics</strong> identified<br />

The work has led to identification of seven different tactics that people per<strong>for</strong>m as a way<br />

of coping with mobility <strong>and</strong> helping them create a sense of home. I will elaborate each<br />

tactic <strong>and</strong> exemplify some observations that have led to identifying each tactic in separate<br />

chapters below. The tactics is homing that is further subdivided in specific actions. They<br />

are:<br />

Territorializing is a way of taking in more/new territory<br />

Bubbling is shutting out context<br />

Artifacting is obtaining a sense of home through artifacts<br />

Connecting is staying in touch remotely<br />

Differentiating is contextualizing a sense home<br />
