In this study, we exam<strong>in</strong>ed the effect of the deletion of psaR on global gene and<br />

prote<strong>in</strong> expression <strong>in</strong> two other pneumococcal stra<strong>in</strong>s, D39 (serotype 2) and TIGR4 (serotype<br />

4) us<strong>in</strong>g transcriptomics and proteomics. Furthermore, we <strong>in</strong>vestigated the contribution of<br />

PsaR to pneumococcal virulence <strong>in</strong> three mur<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong>fection models represent<strong>in</strong>g the major<br />

phases <strong>in</strong> the life cycle of S. <strong>pneumoniae</strong>: colonization, pneumonia, and bacteremia.
