Conditions Grown on red ferrosol soils under solid set irrigation with<br />

standard pest and disease control and a planting fertiliser mix<br />

of NPK high analysis mix of 9:13:16 at 1500kg/Ha.<br />

Trial Design Randomised block with 3 replicates, 2 rows wide with 20<br />

plants per replicate.<br />

Measurements Field data was collected on the 26th Feb 2008 using UPOV<br />

descriptions. Lightsprout characteristics were assessed on 8th<br />

Oct 2008.<br />

Origin and Breeding<br />

Controlled pollination. The seedling was selected from a cross between seed parent<br />

‘Arinda’ pollinated by ‘Impala’ in 1986. The seed parent is characterised by yellow<br />

skinned tuber and the pollen parent is also characterised by yellow skinned tuber.<br />

The selection was clonally propagated at Agrico Research in Emmeloord, Holland,<br />

with the main selection criteria being general morphological characteristics for an<br />

early red skinned variety. Breeder: Agrico Research, Emmeloord, The Netherlands.<br />
