Date + denomination, approved ()
A variety denomination is considered to be approved if there are no objections to the
proposed denomination received within 60 days of publication in the Official Journal.
Breeder’s reference ()
This is the reference given by the applicant at the time of the application. This reference
may be the same as the proposed denomination.
Application Number ()
This is the number given by the Office (DAFF) for each application. The same variety can
have a different application number for PBR and NLI.
Publication date of data regarding the application ()
PBR: the publication is made in The Official Journal of Plant Varieties
NLI: No publication. EU MSs and Brussels are given details annually of NLI varieties in
VCU trials.
Grant Number ()
For PBR a certificate number is given. For NLI - starting in 1996, an inscription number is
being given to each variety inscribed in the National Catalogue.
Start date grant ()
For PBR the start of the grant is the date the certificate is issued. For NLI the entry date is
the start date and relates to the date the Commission of the European Union and EU Member
States are informed of the entry under the accelerated procedure.
Applicant’s name ()
For NLI: the legal or natural person who filed the application and is responsible for
administrative procedures.
For PBR: the name of the applicant who will be the future holder of rights.
Maintainer’s name ()
The maintenance is only for NLI. The maintainer is responsible for the technical
maintenance of the variety. There are no fees charged in Ireland for NLI.
