Date + denomination, approved ()<br />

A variety denomination is considered to be approved if <strong>the</strong>re are no objections to <strong>the</strong><br />

proposed denomination received within 60 days <strong>of</strong> publication in <strong>the</strong> Official Journal.<br />

Breeder’s reference ()<br />

This is <strong>the</strong> reference given by <strong>the</strong> applicant at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> application. This reference<br />

may be <strong>the</strong> same as <strong>the</strong> proposed denomination.<br />

Application Number ()<br />

This is <strong>the</strong> number given by <strong>the</strong> Office (DAFF) <strong>for</strong> each application. The same variety can<br />

have a different application number <strong>for</strong> PBR and NLI.<br />

Publication date <strong>of</strong> data regarding <strong>the</strong> application ()<br />

PBR: <strong>the</strong> publication is made in The Official Journal <strong>of</strong> Plant Varieties<br />

NLI: No publication. EU MSs and Brussels are given details annually <strong>of</strong> NLI varieties in<br />

VCU trials.<br />

Grant Number ()<br />

For PBR a certificate number is given. For NLI - starting in 1996, an inscription number is<br />

being given to each variety inscribed in <strong>the</strong> National Catalogue.<br />

Start date grant ()<br />

For PBR <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> grant is <strong>the</strong> date <strong>the</strong> certificate is issued. For NLI <strong>the</strong> entry date is<br />

<strong>the</strong> start date and relates to <strong>the</strong> date <strong>the</strong> Commission <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> European <strong>Union</strong> and EU Member<br />

States are in<strong>for</strong>med <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> entry under <strong>the</strong> accelerated procedure.<br />

Applicant’s name ()<br />

For NLI: <strong>the</strong> legal or natural person who filed <strong>the</strong> application and is responsible <strong>for</strong><br />

administrative procedures.<br />

For PBR: <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> applicant who will be <strong>the</strong> future holder <strong>of</strong> rights.<br />

Maintainer’s name ()<br />

The maintenance is only <strong>for</strong> NLI. The maintainer is responsible <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> technical<br />

maintenance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> variety. There are no fees charged in Ireland <strong>for</strong> NLI.
