A variety denomination is considered to be approved at the date of grant of PBR and/or
addition to the National List. Therefore in general items Date+Denomination approved
() and Start date for PBR grant/NLI listing () are the same.
Date + denomination proposed
The variety denomination is proposed by the applicant. The date is the date when the office
received the proposal (). The publication is done in the official gazette (Meddelande
från Statens växtsortnämnd). The gazette is normally published in February, June and
September.
Breeder’s reference
Reference given by the applicant at the time of application. This reference may be the same
as the proposed denomination.
Application number
Each application is given a number. The same variety might have more than one application
number, one for PBR and one for NLI.
PBR applications: A = Agricultural species, B = Horticultural species, F = Forest
trees.
PBR before 2006: A = Agricultural species, B = Vegetables, C = Fruits, D = Berries,
E = Ornamentals, F = Forest trees.
NLI applications: AR = Agricultural species, BR = Horticultural species, X =
Conservation varieties, Y = Amateur varieties.
NLI before 1971: GAR = Agricultural species, GBR = Vegetables.
Publication
The applications, denominations and decisions are published in the official gazette
(Växtsortmeddelande/Plant Varieties Gazette). The Plant Varieties Gazette can be subscribed
from http://www.jordbruksverket.se/gazette
Grant number
For Plant Breeders Rights a certificate number is given.
Start date - grant (protection) / registration (listing)
Start of grant is the date for decision on PBR grant or acceptance for NLI.
Start date – renewal
For NLI only, year of the last renewal, January 1 of the year following the year of the end of
acceptance.
