5. Motor with best efficiency A. High Efficiency Motors (HEM) or EFF1 motors are about 2 – 3 per cent more efficient than standard types. This sounds small but over the life of the motor this will mean a significant reduction in energy use - especially as motors generally consume energy in the first 5-6 weeks which is equal to their purchase cost. The purchase price of HEM is only a little higher to that of standard motors. Cost savings Motor size % KW 14
6. Reconnect to STAR ‘STAR’ connection reduces the voltage across the motor windings to 58 per cent of the delta connection. In Star connection the motor then only gives onethird torque. Doing this can make useful energy savings. Competent industrial electrical engineers can easily perform this task.
