Network Configuration (Software) 4 Network Configuration (Software) A CANopen network is made up of several network stations which are to communicate with each other. To be able to fulfill this task, the network needs to be configured and the resulting network configuration data need to be transferred to the master(s) in suitable form. 4.1 Configuration Tool Tasks � Define network stations � Define communication pathways � Define CANopen manager and configuration master (NMT master) � Set data transfer rate Sources of supply There are various vendors who supply suitable configuration tools. It is up to you which one you choose as long as the tool creates a separate DCF file for every station. To find a list of vendors and dealers go to the CiA home page (CAN in Automation) at: headquarters@can-cia.org Refer to chapter 5.1 Project Setup Example to find an example configuration created with ProCANopen, the configuration tool supplied by Vector Informatik GmbH. Transfer of configuration data to the stations The NMT master's job is to transmit the network configuration data to the other bus stations when the network is started. Or rather it does at least transmit these data to the non-programmable stations such as decentralised I/Os. Kuhnke provides separate software for the transfer of configuration data to Kuhnke controllers. It is called COBES. Refer to the next section to find some details about it. E 615 GB 29 06.02.2008
