PERSONAL. Con el título de Ingenieros de bosques, se creí) el Cuerpo de montes en 30 de Abril de 1835, nombre que cambió por el de montes y plantíos en 16 de Marzo ele 1843, y quedó reducido á montes en 18 de Agosto de 1847. El Cuerpo se formó con arreglo á las Reales órdenes de 12 de Agosto de 1848 y 18 de Octubre de 1853, organizándose al fin en 17 de Marzo de 1854. Distintas disposiciones, dictadas posteriormente, fueron completando su organización, hasta que en 23 de Junio de 1865, se aprobó definitivamente el reglamento orgánico del Cuerpo de Ingenieros de montes. A continuación insertamos dicho reglamento, así como otras disposiciones vigentes relativas al personal. Los Ingenieros de montes tenían derecho á usar armas, con arreglo á la Real orden de 16 de Marzo de 1857; mas derogada esta disposición por el Real decreto de 10 de Agosto de 1876, ahora para el uso de armas, lo mismo que los Ayudantes y Capataces, deben obtener licencias gratis de los Gobernadores de las provincias en que presten servicio, á lo que tienen derecho con arreglo á la Real orden de 24 de Noviembre de 1876, publicada en la Gaceta núm. 330. Tienen también los Ingenieros el uso de la franquicia oficial concedido en 18 de Abril de 1855. Los Ingenieros Jefes de los distritos, son vocales natos de las Juntas provinciales de Agricultura, Industria y Comercio, de las de Estadística, y de las de defensa contra la filoxera: de las Juntas provinciales de Amillaramientos, dos Ingenieros de los del distrito.
