Buenas prácticas agrícolas para la adaptación al cambio climático Parte 2AbstractTraditional livestock raising in many cases is related to low indices ofproductivity, profitability and negative impacts for the environment.Silvopastoral systems constitute a strategy to improve the economic,social and environmental indicators on cattle farms. Also, they have apotential to adjust the climatic changes such as prolonged droughts aswell as periods of abundant rain, which are variations that increase economicand environmental vulnerability of agricultural enterprises. In someregions of Central America, cattle producers through local and/or acquiredknowledge recognize the economic, social and environmental importanceof the silvopastoral systems. In addition, they relate them to adaptation toclimate change as a source of food resources in periods of long droughtand for shade to mitigate the effect of high temperatures.Key words: livestock, environmental services, conservation, productivity104
