Also, they have apotential to adjust the climatic changes such as prolonged droughts aswell as periods of abundant rain, which are variations that increase economicand environmental vulnerability of agricultural enterprises. In someregions of Central America, cattle producers through local and/or acquiredknowledge recognize the economic, social and environmental importanceof the silvopastoral systems. In addition, they relate them to adaptation toclimate change as a source of food resources in periods of long droughtand for shade to mitigate the effect of high temperatures.Key words: livestock, environmental services, conservation, productivity104
