ORTHODONTIE ET OSTÉOPATHIE : DES CONCEPTS À LA CLINIQUE

RÉSUMÉ EN FRANÇAIS :
L’ostéopathie n’est pas sans ignorer les champs d’application de la sphère maxillo-faciale.
On observe de fait une collaboration de plus en plus fréquente chez les praticiens entre
orthodontie et ostéopathie. Ce travail propose d’interroger l’abord ostéopathique de la
sphère maxillo-faciale tant dans sa démarche diagnostique que dans ses propositions
thérapeutiques à la lumière des acquis de la connaissance scientifique. Au préalable, les
notions générales nécessaires à la compréhension du concept ostéopathique sont explicitées,
l’accent est mis sur son approche plus spécifique du champ crânien. L’objectif est de mener
une réflexion informée et critique quant à l’apport potentiel du suivi ostéopathique dans la
pratique clinique orthodontique.

ORTHODONTICS AND OSTEOPATHY : FROM CONCEPTS TO CLINIC
Osteopathy acknowledges the field of the maxillofacial area. Indeed, we can observe that
collaborations between osteopaths and orthodontists are rising. This work will question the
osteopathic approach toward the maxillofacial area concerning diagnostics and the
therapeutic solutions it proposes with the help of scientific knowledge. Beforehand, the
general notions that are needed to understand the osteopathic concept will be presented and
an emphasis will be put on its most specific approach of the cranium. The aim is to discuss
the potential contribution of an osteopathic follow-up care in the orthodontic clinical
practice in a documented and critical way.
